I have a 02, A4 1.8 T Auto Tranny. My engine is stock. 170hp. I am wondering what mods i need to get in order to push 20-30 more horsepower without ruining my engine.

easy. Chip + Exhaust. Or Chip, exhaust, and bigger fuel injectors. Revo, APR, Giac, MTM, Dahlback, NS all make chips for the 2002-2005 a4. Check out eurocodetuning. The owner is a great guy, knows his stuff more than most, and will give you the best deal. You tranny and engine will be fine with these minor upgrades. I'm running 315whp (400chp) on my 2003 1.8t right now on stock internals. No problem. You couldn't do that though on an auto tranny

 

Chip it, you'll get almost exactly that gain

 

up to 200 from chip i think maybe a bit more maybe not

 

Chip is the easiest way to do it but your limited on the control of your engine

 

chip and dv. you have a very customizable engine, and moderate upgrades wont destroy anything if you take good care of it.
