So after not passing inspection due to 4 worn tires and bad brakes all the way around (pads AND rotors!), I bought 800 bucks worth of brakes (brembo drilled rotors) and the best possible pads as well as 4 new tires, and took the car into the shop today to have them installed. I came back later and mechanic told me that my rear calipers need to be replaced and front calipers should be as well down the road sometime soon. The rear calipers literally had chunks missing out of them that the safety inspectors who did the inspection (different shop) failed to tell me about when they quoted me... So now my question is what the heck does a set of rear calipers go for? Im just lookin for OEM stuff cuz im basically broke right now (damn car haha) and cant affoard anything special. Maybe next spring when I get some new rims, ect I will do better front brakes (porsche, brembo, who knows). The shop that im at now (basically an installer for aftermarket stuff as well as inspection station that comes highly recommended) ordered the parts and they should be here monday however they wont know the cost until they arive so im basically just looking for some options.

On the plus side after having the new front brakes and all new tires put on the car, it drives great! Its a blast to drive compared to my old bmw 528. Once I get the stupid brake situation taken care of, I can move onto bigger and more important things like getting a little suspension noise and valve tap taken care of and getting a timing belt changed soon.

mann you need to find a good mechanic, my guy will tell me everything that would fail inspection but he always passes me anyway.
