Default MPG?

I've got a 98 2.8Q Tip. I noticed that I got about 100 gallons per quarter for the first half of my tank (because I was on a highway going about 75-80) and then when I got back into my town going to school and work...I only got 100 miles to the second half...all in all it came out to 20 mpg...does that sound like cr*p to anyone else?

P.S. I wasn't on the go peddle at all either

eh. these cars suck at intown slow speeds. they love high speeds. but i have a 1.8t. so if im gently and generally stay out of the boost, i get good mileage. relativly that is. i agerage 20-21 mog per tank. but i have a lead foot

Yup same here. I got the 2.8 and its around 230-260 city and 380-400 hwy. Full throttle in the city for 5 minutes and I can watch my gauge go down a little.

I dont get that great of mileage on the Highway. I just drove from cleveland to Chicago and back this weekend (about 350 miles). On the way there, I had to stop cuz I wasnt going to make it on one tank, on the way back, I rolled in with about 40 miles to empty. The wierd thing is, my drive back to cleveland I drove at way higher speeds and was at about 4000 rpms through all of indiana. I would think I should get worse mileage doing that. Unless the wind is that big of a factor.

When faced with ricer situations my MPG goes down a LOT, but I do about half highway and half in city on my car and usually get 380ish per tank.
