Multiple Problems - Door, Remote, Noise....
Hi there.... i am using Audi A4 1.8T 2001 model. I have been having a problem with the remote for quite a while.
DOORS-REMOTE:
Doors wont lock/unlock with the remote but it gets the signal to the door. Definitely its not the FUSE or Battery of the remote. As per the AUDI service folks, it seems to be "VACCUM PUMP". Unfortunately i got a lesser quote when i was in Arizona( around $400), but the quote is almost twice in Ohio ($760). Does any body have an idea how much it might cost REALLY??
DOOR-HANDLE:
Driver door lock from inside is very loose and as per audi service team it needs to be replaced. Quote for the same is $160. Can anybody help me understanding these quotes are atleast close to reality.
INTAKE HOSE:
Driving experience became very uncomfortable. It has become noisy and feels like a very old car. They say INTAKE HOSE is LEAKING. Quote is $165. ???????
LEAKING VALVE GASKETS - $820. Anybody know what is the affect of this?? Is it serious ?? How quickly does it need to be fixed.
Any help is appreciated...............

Hmmm...I'm not really sure about the keyless entry system but if it was a faulty vacuum pump ALL the doors wouldn't lock/unlock if you use the key itself. For the door handle, remove the door panel to see whats faulty and replace it yourself instead having the stealership do it and overcharging you. Again the intake hose is something you can do on your own to save a few dollars. Leaking valve gasket??? Do you mean head gasket or valve cover gasket? If its the valve cover gasket you can do it on your own for a fraction of what they're overcharging you. I suggest you have the car scanned for codes, the MAF or something else might be throwing a bad signal.
Trey... Thanks for your inputs... ALL the doors do not lock/unlock. But i can use the KEY manually to open the DRIVER Door and then open all the other doors and close them before leaving the car. all the probelms i mentioned are the outputs from the analysis of a local STEALERship service center. So i am not exactly sure about the Head Gasket or Valve Cover Gasket.
So far i drove the car but never done any repairs on the car.. so just trying analyze the quotes to see whether they are reasonable or trying to rob me..
By any chance if u have some links to repair, please help me in that ..
