used to be turbocharged, and then my friend(which i thought he was) blew it up.

yea, u'd get worked, less hp, and more weight...
thats why i dont like drag... it all comes down to one thing... power to weight ratio...
track racing (aka canyons) are way more fun, because thats where you start to see driver skill, and a light fwd car, like the gti, might not have enought weight to keep the front wheels planted, anywho...

first of all im not out 30 horses, im out about 4 or 5. well personally, i think i would beat him cuz he has no racing experience whats so ever.

Doesn't matter, he's still way lighter than you. If you really thought you could beat him you wouldn't be asking us for reassurance, you would be racing him. And losing.
A 2000 VR6 GTI bone stock can run the quarter in 14.9. Your car does about 15.9. No amount of "racing experience' will make up for that gap, unless you're racing a quadriplegic.
