Default My Audi's been riced! Need help!

Hello, hello everyone. This is my first post here, and not only am I new to this forum, I'm also new to Audi's, I've had my 2000 A4 1.8TQ for about five weeks now, and I love it so far (its hard not to when your last car was a 91 Maxima). I've been reading a few different threads here on the site over this past weekend and I love the site, its well put together and informative, and alot of people on here really seem to know there sh*t.

Anyways, onto my problem/situation: I bought my Audi from a used car dealership, and it already had a few mods done, it has a boost and air/fuel gauge installed; from what one mechanic told me, it has a chip ( my less important question has to do with that), but what I'm most concerned about though, is the BOV it already had on it. I've read all the threads on how bad they are for Audis and right now, I don't even wanna drive my car. However until I get paid on Friday I can't even afford to buy the 710N DV, so I need to know if theres anything I can do to the BOV to make it better for my car until I can get a DV, or anything I can do period. Also once I do get a DV would I be able to switch out the BOV for the DV without any problems or modifications? The other question was, where do I look to find out if my car truly does have a chip, and if so, what kind?

I appreciate any replies and/or suggestions.

By the way here's a link to the exact sh*tty BOV that is currently on my car,(Rice-a-roni) I don't know if the claim that it is adjustable can help me at all.

Thank you Bentframe. You brought up another concern of mine because the BOV has been on there since I bought the car about five weeks ago and who knows how long the other guy had it on before me, the car seems to be running fine and I havn't had a CEL, but how can I know how much damage has been done already?

To look for the chip you have to open the black box on the driver's side of the engine firewall in the engine comparment, and then open the ECU.

Alternatively, and much easier check your boost gauge. Normal will hold about 7-9 PSI of boost. If you hold 12-17 PSI, you have a chip.

you can remove your pre-cat 02 sensor and check to see if it's clean...you should also check your spark plugs
