As you already know, I bough the car about a month ago with busted had (timing belt doing of some shade tree mechanic)

This morning we started around 10am, around 5pm the car was running!!! Cranked from the very first try!!! Smoked for a minute or so, coughing up all the gunk and crap from the r/r, ticky-ticky for 7-10 minutes then evened out and now sounds as sweet as she could be!!!

Every bolt, every tensioner, every seal and every gasket is new, all new thermoswitches, new water pump, etc…

Ran her few miles, warmed up new oil, drained it, replaced it again, same with new coolant and she is all good!!! Back in one piece! And no check engine light either, we cranked intermediate shaft for few minutes prior to final installation of the TB, got everything filled up with oil, this way there was no need to dry crank it with coils unplugged (that would have definitely threw a check engine light)

Bottom line: 1.8T – numbers on paper don’t do the justice to the car! Fun to drive factor = two thumbs up!

Man that's awesome...congrats...you guys are really giving me courage to take on bigger tasks!

glad your up and running again, i know how that cam be sometimes, just glad that it started!

 

did you get to look at your block? when my friend blew his he blew taht **** up ******* a hole the size of shaqs fist in the side and piece of the cam everywhere.
