I have 99 A4 1.8QT with a concert radio and factory CD changer. The CD changer used to work fine. I unplugged the CD changer cable from the changer and tried to plug it into a USA SPEC Aux Interface box (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6QRQc33...info&i=581DFVW)
which will allow me to connect my iPod to it.

The cable had to be forced a little bit to go into the USA SPEC box but it finally did. The radio didn't recognize it though.

So I plugged the cable back into the CD changer and the radio didn't recognize that either. I held the MODE button while turning on the radio and it displayed NO CDC. So I looked at the 13 pin plug and noticed one of the pins is shorter than the rest. I don't know if this happened when the cable was being a little forced into the USA SPEC box or if this is normal.

I attached a picture of the 13 pin plug with the shorter pin in the white circle, pointed to by the arrow.

Is my cable bad? If so, what are my options? Is it easy to replace the 13 pin plug?

Nevermind. I tried to pull on the pin a few more times and the pin finally came out. I reconnected the CD changer and the radio is recognizing it now.

All is good with the world now.

 

sometimes i have to "fonz" my radio and give it a couple good wacks before it reads my cd changer, then it works, fine, im sure its just loose, but im saving for an alpine so i dont really care right now
