Default My new 2003 A4

Hey folks,

I've just bought a 2003 A4 1.8t and i find myself in unfamiliar waters. After owning a BMW 540 for more then 8 years and modding the hell out of it, i now know practically nothing about my new Audi and in need of some help from some you gurus over here.

My firstthree mods that i'd to do are:XM, MP3, and Bluetooth retrofits.

So, for XM/MP3, my first question, will i be able to get a head unit from a newer mode, say an 05 that does support both mp3 playback as well as beingSAT ready? If so, will it be backwards compatible to an 03, will it just be plug and play or will ineed a harness?
As another option, If i go with a NAV unit, looks like the newerNAV units (DVD based)have MP3 support, but i can't seemed to find if they are SAT ready....
Basically, what are my options here?

As far Bluetooth, in my old Bimmer (since it was prewired for the phone) it was just a matter of getting a Bluetooth ULF module (an a few other parts) and it was done. Since it does not look like my A4 is prewired for phone, does that mean i can't get Bluetooth or is it done a different way in Audi? Or, am i pretty much screwed and need to get some POS aftermarket, external solution?

Any help is much appreciated.

Oh, and one other thing, any links to good A4 DIY sites would be great!

Thanks.

Can someone please also explain to me the RNS-E upgrade deal? From what i understand RNS-E units will play MP3 disk and can also accomodate an add-on bluetooth and XMmodules. What i can't fugure out is how hard is it to upgrade to the RNS-E.... Again i have 2003 A4, with SymphonyII 6 disk in-dash HU.
I found bunch of informationalreay on upgrading, but some looks to be very difficult and some not, soi'm pretty confused...

Can someone please put this into perspective for me?

Most of us here mainly help with engine mods or problems, very few have delt with those kind of upgrades. That is the main reason why your responses are limited.

Grats on the buy, glad you went with the 1.8T. Its a great car

- 91+ octane gas all the time

- Synthetic Oil Changes every 3k-4k miles

-Timing belt at 60k-70k miles, treat it right and it will treat you the same way.

Just be sure to do those things and it should run strong unless you put heavy mods into it
