Guys, my oil is DANGEROUSLY low. I just got an oil change a month ago and I don't know where the oil leak could be??!!?? I have a 98 A4 2.8 with about 90,000 miles on it.

Any suggestions???

 

First off, fill it up with oil. Wipe the engine bay as clean as you can. Place clean paper towels down on the floor over night and look for drops. If nothing is seen drive around the block and come back into the garage and search the engine bay for oil streaks.

i had a 98 2.0 beetle, suddenly once, the oil dissapeared. put in oil, was fine for a few months, did the same thing, no leaks, nothing. i then traded it for a benz. lol

i guess it's a vw thing

 

the oil monster took it, happened to me to but my oil return line broke

 

do you notice the smell of burning oil?

could be the valve cover gaskets are leaking.

pull out the spark plug cables, to check for leaks around spark plug area, or either side of the valve covers.

 

The same exact thing has just happened to me 99 2.8 30v i checked my oil the last time i got gas and it was really really really low. I hadnt checked it for a while, but the time i checked it b4 it was fine. I dont see ne spots in my drivway where it would be leaking either. Let us know if u find what is wrong, mabey same thing on mine. Oh, by the way, i filled it up with mobil1 syn. 5w30 and i got a 5 liter jug, it took about 3.5-4.5 qts, so yea , it was real low.
