i just got my oil changed about two months ago but for some reason every once in while when i'm driving the oil light will flash.does anyone know what the problem could be?

Do not drive your car with a flashing oil pressure light.

Have your car towed to a garage and have them check the oil pressure.

 

Sounds like an oil slidge issue. For audi or vw to cover it under warrenty you pretty much have to have every oil change on record with them. I dont know if audi is doing it but vw just started doing bg flushes along with changing the pick up tube and a few other things. Ask your dealer

 

does it matter if the light goes on and off at times or should i just take it to get checked ?

 

Mine would go off and on. Maybe on for 1 min, then wouldn't see it again for a month. Still had sludge tho, luckily I had my records, and Audi covered it all.

So, if you have the oil pressure light on, AT ALL, get your car to the dealer. You don't want to mess around with this.

my 2000 1.8t had the same problem......the oil light came on a few times while driving...could actually hear the valves knocking from lack of oil.....I was terrified of the dreaded oil sludge issue but decided to change the oil pump first....alot cheeper fix than what the audi dealerrecommended.....(full engine replacement)

replaced my oil pump and 15000 miles later no knocking and no oil light. I found a newreplacement oil pump for less than $100 on ebay. hope this helps.
