Might be able to just call Audi and ask - otherwise - pull the passenger side kick pannel and pull up the door sill. pull up the carpet and you can open the TCU enclosure. might take you a half hour to take it all apart and put back together

Ok, the reason I am asking is I found a Tip chip that is for sale but it says it's for a 2.8 30V engine.

GIAC TCU (Transmission chip) for 98-01 A6/A4 2.8 Quattro 30v

That is something that I would not risk. But I have a 98.5 nad my TCU # is 8D0 927 156 BN. It might be possible that yours is different. I would call a GIAC dealer, not AWE and ask them if they can tell you the difference between the two ECU's or if they use the same program for both ECU's - you can also hook up a vag-com and log into your tranny TCU and that should tell you the #

I have a '99 2.8, and my TCU number is 8D0 927 156 BQ. You should call GIAC and verify
