alright guys, here is what they are talking about because we do the same at the vw dealership I work at. When you disconnect the battery, you have to do an adaptation of the throttle. If it is a automatic you have have to do the same and a kickdown step. The thing that is **** is that they dont tell you that you can also turn your key to the on position for about 1 minute after installing the new battery and it does the same thing if it is a manuel. Now, if it is a automatic, you really do need to let them do the kickdown process. If not, your car will probably run like **** at idle and then you'll really regrete it. Just throwing in a different opion.

I just changed my battery on my CVT 02 A4. I purchased the battery from Autozone, $70, and dropped it in. The car runs perfect and I didn't even lose my radio presets. DIY all the way.

The norm is 60$ for an oil change. About 4.5 quarts of synthetic on the b5. Dont know about the b6, prolly the sme.
i changed my battery the other day and it cost me 70$ at the dealership. I work there as well btw.
some other warranty stuff was done to it as well. i had to pay 50$ deuctible, so the total was 130$ with the tax.
i dont know why they charged you 265 for a battery.. its about 100$.
Edit :the 50$ you payed is a deductible on the warranty work.

My shop charges about $40 for the basic oil change + $7/qt of Mobil 1 (4.5qt x 7=31.5) + $25 to remove and reinstall the skidplate. Comes to $103.36 after tax. Still a big rip, I only pay 1/2 that with my discount.

I just got my glovebox lid replaced under warranty this week. Didn't pay a cent - there's no way they should be charging you labor.
(FYI the failure was in one of the hinges - it had seized up, putting stress on the point where the hinge attaches to the lid. That joint is not designed to handle stress so eventually the lid split at that point. Clearly not a result of owner abuse or misuse, so I got no hassle about warranty coverage).

i hate that deductalbe crap, everytime i buy a car from a dealer i make sure there is no deductalbe, thats so gay.. sometimes they charge you extra for the warranty, and then on top of that you have to pay a deductable f that.. tell the dealer to blow themsleves and do the batery yourself.. and the glove box... i feel that if something only takes a dealer 20 minutes to do they shouldnt charge a deductale or even the 90 dollar an hour charge.. thats such a rip off..
