So I've been tossing the idea around to myself about getting a navigation setup in my car. I've looked at just going with the Audi Navigation Plus unit as it would be a simple plug and play setup. However of course there is that lovely price of audi parts. What do you all think would be a reasonable price for an OEM B5 setup?

I also think I have the right part number down but would it be 8D0 035 192? 2001 1.8T with the bose system btw.

I just did that to my car. I had it installed by what I would consider a pro. To do it right you need a Vag-Com so you can code the car properly to read the NavPlus. WIth install, mine cost $1250.

Go OEM NAVI it looks alot better then a garmin on your mindshield and a cord running from your lighter to the GPS. Top of the line GPS is runing atleast $800. so alittle more you can have a indash one that plays MP3's etc.

While the RNS-E (Nav Plus) navigation head unit CAN be installed in a B5 A4, it is not plug and play. You'll need to get a couple adapters for the antenna, power, and audio harnesses as well as possibly change some of the connectors pins.

Check www.navplus.us for all of the detailed information and what is necessary. The OEM B5 navigation system was CD based and had no LCD screen. It displayed text through the Trip Computer and some limited voice prompts through the stock stereo.

This is the unit I was looking at:

So this won't just fit plug and play?

I was thinkin along the lines of that nav plus unit for a while as well. Really clean and efficient system. Then I saw a friend using the navigation thing from verizon on his phone. Learned it was $10 a month and have had it for about a year now. Great stuff cause if I'm not driving I can still find my friends around lol. Its got its drawbacks but overall very satisfied. Just another option....
