Default need advice on about music equipment

i have a 01 a4, first i wanted a cd changer, then i have seen phatbox which came with 20 gig drive plug and play just like a cd changer. when i was talking to the lady on the phone she said they have discontunied it because ipod basically killed their buisness. now i wanna get ipod but i know there is a radio transmeter which my friend had but the quality sucks, is there a cable or anyother way i can get a the same quality like its from a cd or phatbox or ipod itself, from ipod?

This is what I got, it works great. You just plug it into the cable that goes to the cd changer and it sounds great. Except for the fact that the Bose speakers blow...

I would say first off dont waste time or money on an iPod, they are really locked down and only work with iTunes on one PC at a time. I had to take down my wifes computer and now we cant connect her iPod to my laptop becuase it wants to format itself first. Oh and when your battery dies after to many charges, your screwed, replace the whole unit. You can get a nice sony/samsung/etc with twice the storage, for half the price and theres no limitations like the iPod has. I use a PSP which cost me $180 +$100 for two 4 gig cards, and it does way way more then any iPod anywhere.

As for connecting it to the radio there is an attachment for the PSP that allows it to broadcast though your radio, thats what I use. Its not perfect but it sounds pretty damn good. And if you dont like the PSP for its size, there are stand alone MP3 players that have that FM Transmiter built in. Or if you want something really cool check this out.

sirfalconx,

You DO realize there's third party software to get her music off, right? And that you can replace the battery in your ipod yourself ($25 and 15 minutes of your time)?

sp33d07, do more research on the ipod. He's full of BS.

Exactly what I was thinking, Apple is no doubt one of the best Mp3 player manufacturers there are. I love my ipod. And YES I have owned MANY other Mp3 players. Sure it kind of sucks that you HAVE to use itunes to load your music, which at first I thought was really gay. But I soon realized that itunes is a very good way to keep your music organized. And yes you can get your music off your ipod. I have done it before. I believe the software is free or you can get it through torrents. Plus in your situation there is a lot more options with integrating an Ipod with your car.

Ipod is the way to go!!! I would personaly get a single DIN headunit with integrated ipod controls. that way you are getting cd or better quality sound, and easier control with the head unit instead of fumbling around with the ipod while trying to drive. If you got the cake then get a dvd/nav headunit with ipod integrated controls. i Have had a ipod hooked up basically every way you can and on a integrated HU is the best way...just not the cheapest

Good luck, LaCe
