i have a 1997 a4 1.8t and i am getting chipped tommorrow and i need to find the ecu number can u please help me thanks

 

its in a caseing under the hood at the dirvers side corner under the plastic weather protector.

 

If you know someone with a VAG COM you can read your ECU code from the OBD2 port. Otherwise you can physically read the number off the ECU, which is located on the driver side firewall, you'll have to pull back the weather strip and remove the plastic cover that runs under the wipers. It's in a weather sealed plastic box and to remove the cover you'll need to remove the 8mm screws first.
