Ok so i have a 97 A4 auto.(when i get the money im gonna have it changed) so i just got into audi's dont really know much about them... so i need to know is what kind of engine it has of course i could look myself but all i see is V5 or 5V dont remember another thing is it has very poor acceleration(is that normal) and what can i do to start makin this car fly!!!!

 

obviously it's not a 1.8t if u don't see a turbo when u open the hood. If you know what a turbo looks like for that matter. Post pix.

 

It's a 1.8 if its slow lol. Also if it said 5v its a 1.8. Look on the left side of the engine for small snail shaped thing. Thats your turbo

 

Why didn't you just get one with a manual in the first place? And if it says 5V on the engine, it's a 1.8T. The 2.8 says V6 on the engine cover.

 

I didn't get one that was manual in the first place because this car was basicly free some guy had just bought it brought it in to my uncle's shop to have something done to it and never came back. it is a 1.8t forgot to mention that either way when you open the hood it says turbo next to the 5V. so then what do you guys recommend i do to it.

 

I think the first thing you should do would be to use the search feature of this forum, and spend time just poking around on 1.8t topics. Look up 1.8 turbo upgrades, chip upgrades, cold-air intakes, diverter valves, suspension, wheels, etc. Look at the sticky threads at the top of this forum.

There is a plethora of information on here, so grab a cup of joe, sit back, and get to researching. We'll help you with your questions, but it looks best if you do some work on your own first.

Not too shabby. Lots of potential there.

First thing i would do would be to clean up that engine.Looks like you're missing the lower front filler plate(s) on your bumper too, so i'd track those down. Do the little, least expensive things - get them out of the way.

 

First mod should be WHEELS! forget everything else for now and get new wheels.

 

sorry to say it, but I agree about getting new wheels. pre '98 models didn't have the best looking alloys did they.. lovely colour car though.
