Need Help car does not have enough boost
Hi all,
I have 97 A4 quatro 2.8L (79000), my car does not have enough boost, even if i push my accelerator it does not go, i cannot cross 80mph.
Any idea what the problem would be.
Is it time to change spark plug, air filter..................
If so what brand should i use, can i buy from SEARS store.
Can i change the spark plugs by my-self, will i break some thing, i hardly know any thing about car repairs.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ram.

RE: Need Help car does not have enough boost
Your engie is a naturaly aspirated V6, so no "boost" for you!! You should be able to go over 80mph though!! Do you have automatic or manual?? Spark plugs are easy and a good way to start leaning how to work on a car. Search for a Do It Yourself article on how to do them if you need one. First though I would get to autozone and get your ecu scanned for fault codes.. You shouldnt have trouble going over 80mph.

Im pretty sure the Bosch F7LTCR is the right plug to use for the 12v.
I doubt thats your problem though. Get your ecu scanned because there may be fault codes stored that will point to what the problem is. It can be done for free at most autozone stores if you have one near by. If you want to start working on your car the best thing to do is get a haynes manual for your specific model/yr. Pretty cheap on ebay.. Youd be lucky to find that any NAPA or autozone would keep that in stock. Haynes will tell you the basics.

Agree, The only way to tell what may e wrong is to check for codes stored in the ECU. Otherwise you will be changing parts at risk.
However, are you doing regular maintenance?
When was the last time you changed the air filter and spark plugs. I believe the recommended changes are every 30K miles.
You are also getting close to the time where you should consider saving up for a timing belt change too.
