Need help changing timing belt.....instructions
Hi, I need detail instructions and pictures on how to replace timing belt 2001 1.8t AWM. Who ever put the timing belt on my car last time didn't align up the cam and crank properly so now my car won't start on the first try. With P0341 code. I know my timing is off because another member "Goldenchild" has the same problem and got it fixed.
So I need detail instructions on how to replace the timing belt with pictures would help alot.
THANKS..........

just release tensioner and skip a tooth with belt by pulling it the opposite way.
actually you rotate the crank opposite way a bit without rotating the engine it self and then buy pulling you skip the tooth. just be carefull not to put a lot of tension on the belt it self or you might damage the tooth.
you might have to remove the tensioner fully from it.

RE: Need help changing timing belt.....instructions
The instructions at http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng35.shtml are pretty good, but they are for an earlier engine type. The difference is that the AWM has an internal water pump like the VW 1.8Ts. The instructions are about the best you are going to find. The internal water pump is no big deal if you can figure it out. A Bentley manual may help, as well.
