Need Help Deciding
Hello everyone.... I dont mean to **** any of you off, but I own a 04 mustang mach1 and am looking for a winter car here in Detroit. I like the audi a4 and was looking at some for around 5-8k. I see them with 80,90,100,120 thousand miles. I just wanted to ask how reliable these cars are and how long they last. I can't be dumping money into this car for repair. So please voice your opinion. Thanks
before you buy one check to see if they had all 60 k maintanence
timing belt water pump tensioner, if not get that in the price
you would probably want a manual
quattro
but as reliable as any other car.....just search

sell the RUSTang and buy a new audi... lol just kidding with ya man... i just traded my rx-8 for a '04 A4 1.8 quattro that im picking up tomorrow. I live in pittsburghso i know what kinda predicament your in with having a rear wheel drive car...good luck
Like previously said, check to make sure the timing belt job has been done for any about 60K, if over 120K check to see if its been replaced recently. Get a 30V 2.8 if you want reliability with at least some power. Dont get the old 12v 2.8. Get a 1.8t if you plan on doing any mods to it. Still failry reliable but is known to run into more issues than 2.8.
hey guys thanks for some of the info.
I am intersted in this car. I already called on it and he said he would work somethng out on the timing belt.

Thats a 12v but if your not looking for power its a reliable motor.
Only thing is it is a FWD, its not quattro. If your getting it for a winter car you should really try to find a quattro...
Also you said they would work something out and its not even at 100K miles. Are they saying they NEVER replaced it? I would be scared to drive it.

Pass on that one for sure.
100k and never did belt, front wheel drive, and 12v, all the things you do NOT want in an audi.
Keep looking. Find a 30v v6, with good service history and quattro, and you'll be much better off. Trust us.
