Thanks for giving a good description. My guess is you f****d up something when either installing the oil pump or the chain on the oil pump fell off. Did you try checking the oil pressure while cranking the engine after your repair? If the oil pump is completely blocked and the oil pressure is less than 5 psi the engine management will shut the engine off.
yes at first the oil press was allmost 0 after i changed the oil pump the press was 18 to 20 lbs the chain is fine i removed the pan to recheck .once the engine managment shuts the engine down do i have to readapt the ecm or do a basic setting before it will restart?
18-20 psi? Thats not nearly enough, it should be somewhere around 4bar or 60psi minimum.
Check the fault codes for possibly anything thats causing the engine to shut down using a VAG COM or factory scanner, a cheap OBD scanner won't read stored or static faults.
You replaced the oil pick up tube right? Thats the main problem, you can't just clean it out.

I don't care if you can get air through the pick up tube or not, it has to be replaced trust me.
As for the VAG COM there are different cables for different programmes, check out www.ross-tech.com and you'll see what im talking about.
Some people buy cables off of e-bay and have had problems with communication with the car, it should work but the cable is well worth buying off of ross tech.
