NEED HELP!!! Windshield Wiper Problems!
So i have had my 03 A4 for about three months and i love it but i keep having an aggravating problems. My windshield wipers only work somethimes and stop working for weeks at a time. They go up halfway and then stop. I then have to push them down manually. The drivers side pushes down easy but the passenger side take full force. I am thinking of changing the motor out, do you think this will fix it? Any help or suggestion would help. Thank you.
Do you live in an area where there is a lot of snow? The motors almost never fail, however if you try to "wipe" off the snow on the windshield you can slip the timing on the wiper motor and it gets confused, or if the wiper blade isn't on tight it can slip a tooth.
There is a really long procedure for timing the motor, or you could just replace it because those already come timed.

No i live in Puyallup Washington. Close to seattle so no snow. Do you think i might have slipped the timing when i pushed them down? Best to just change out the motor?
Yeah forcing them back down messes them up more, thats why you could push down one wiper blade but not the other. The wiper motor assembly is pretty big, it comes with the the rods already attached to the motor so all you have to do is bolt it in place.
It is kind of a PITA to get out though, you have to take off the caps on the wiper blades, un-bolt the blades from the gears and wiggle them off. Then pull off the three clips for the upper cowl and pull that off from the bottom of the windshield. Once that is out you have to un-bolt the case for the ECM and place the top piece aside, then you should be able to get access to the motor assembly.
I do wanna warn you that the motor assembly is NOT cheap.

I found the motor for 100 at autozone believe it or not but i am not for sure if that will fix it. I am wondering if there is anything i might have stripped out, i guess i better just try it and find out.
There is only two things that you could have stripped out, the gear that the wiper blades bolt to (which is part of the factory motor assembly) or the internal gear inside the actual motor, which goes without saying is also part of the motor assembly.
