Default Need some help...

I did a search to save you guys these questions but I didnt find the answer I wanted. OK I have a 1999.5 A$ 1.8tq automatic, I was wondering what mods can I do to make the car better on gas and better on low end torque for everyday driving? I have read sooo many threads on chips and I know that say peak this and race that but Im looking for smooth torque on daily driving. I dont want to eat all my gas mileage I would like stock or better. I was originally looking at getting a chip hard IC pipes and a foam filter, but Im not familiar with german car modding. Usually when I get a dsm I do IC pipes intake and exhaust , but this one I want to look and sound like a stock a4 so no exhaust. Let me know what I should do.

edit: this car wont be a track car or see any real racing but maybe some spirited cruising MAYBE

I'm looking to do the same as you and my investigation shows me that the OEM DV will deteriorate over time. I'll get a new DV when I chip my car. Not an expensive thing and depending on how old and worn your original is, would be a good investment and improve performance.

The oem 710 dv cannot handle the added boost from the chip. Get the 710N for $35.
