Default New Audi A4 Avant 1.9 TDI 110 (97) owner & newbie...

Hi all,

I've just bought my first Audi to replace my Honda Accord Type-R, but I really don't know a great deal about Audi's. Is the TDI (red eye) the same thing as a TDI 110? If not, what does the red eye mean?

Well, I hope I won't be disappointed although I think a diesel Audi will take a bit of getting used to compared to my Type-R! I've done it to save money and still drive a semi-decent car around!!

Thanks,

Ray.

Hi Jestnomen!

It's a 1997, by the way I'm in the UK so it's an R plate. The place I bought it from said it's a red eye (TDI), but it's been de-badged, is there any other way of telling? It's definately a 110bhp, but wasn't sure exactly what the red tdi is?

Hmmm....well I’m from the states and we don't get any of the TDI engines here. My guess would be to pop the bonnet and look for a placard or stamp with an engine code.
