Default new to audi- help a guy out

I just sold my Acura Integra. I have been looking at either buying an Acura CL or an Audi A4. Im looking at a 98-00 used.

1.Are there any issues i should look for on a used Audi?
2.How many miles would be good to have on a used one?
3.what different models are there in the A4 line? ANd what is the best one?
4.I had a manual Acura before and im kinda thinking about getting an auto. Is the Audi A4 (auto) still a quick 1? Or is the MT a better choice.

thanks every1 for taking your time to read this.

1.
If the car is over 70k miles, make sure the timing belt and water pump have been changed.

Make sure the control arms and tie rods are still good and not squeeky. If you don't know how, take it to a mechanic before you buy.

2. There is no amount of miles where they become bad. A car treated well by its owner can be perfect above 100k miles. Vise versa if treated badly, can be a lemon at 50k miles. Buy a car with the lowest mileage you can afford.

3. If you like to mod your car the 1.8t is the way to go, you can easily get it above the V6's power. If you just want reliablity and don't plan on messing with the engine then go for the V6.

4. MT is always the better choice. Go drive it and you make the decision yourself. It's totally opinion.

Welcome to the forum btw.

timing belt should be changed every 60-75k miles.....control arms and tie rod ends are common failing parts for older A4s...

dif models:
96-97 12V 2.8L V6 w/172HP
98-01 30V 2.8L V6 w/190HP
97-00 20V 1.8T 4-banger w/150HP
01 20V 1.8T w/170HP

2.8s are more reliable and slightly nicer (most have real leather, fully-loaded, etc.)
1.8Ts are AWESOME if you like modding...

welcome on board fivestar... you came to the right place for help.... with ppl like Jest. around you will always be fine . I will just want to say that what he has said would be it...

cos if you dont do that you will end up like me.

1. pay $1300 to get your timming belt, TB-tensioner, acc. belt, TB-rolloer, milti rib belt, thermostat, and water pump

2. you will be told on the same day your tie rod is bad.

But now that you know this... go get your self a car that you will love to drive even if you keep getting the bills

konboy, you won't be happy with ANY clear corners for the two-piece headlights...they look cheap, even the expensive ones...lltek sells krystal klear corners for ~100 bucks....ebay has cheap ones for 25-30 bucks...but the one-piece conversion is worth the money...

haha, i just realized you asked about SIDE INDICATORS, i'll leave the crap above here just for reference...the side indicators can be purchased from the same places, ebay's your best bet...you don't really have to worry about cheap imitations for the side markers, i haven't seen any sh!tty ones yet, they're pretty much all the same...
