New Audi... How Much to Pay Over Invoice?
So, you wanna buy a new Audi? How much would you expect to pay for it?
You don't pay full MSRP, do you? That's for sukkas!
Start at the invoice price and work up (instead of down from MSRP), that's what Consumers Report says.
I really have no need of new car dealers [8D], they're there purely to see how close they can get you to paying full price. I know all I need to know about the car from reviews, forums, and the audiusa.com website. I don't even feel I should pay the dealer's "advertising fee", since it wasn't an advert that brought me to the dealership... the A4 sells itself, right??
So what do you offer the dealer? 3% over invoice? 4% over invoice? More???

here is what you do.. go to dealership A.. and talk to them figure out what it costs.. what they are tacking on.. etc etc etc.. dont buy with them.. Find out what you want and see if they have it, most likely they will say they can get it from another dealer... BS.. because then they tack on more costs.. delivery etc etc etc... so then what you do is find out what dealer they would get it from.. that is dealer B
Call dealer B on the phone, say I know you have this car and it cost you this much I will give you 1000 over the price it cost you and you guys dont have to do anything.. just sign the paperwork and dont waste anytime "selling" me a car.. I know what I want. This will work because the salesperson doesnt have to sell anything they are still making a profit and invested absolutely no sales time into you. So they make off and you make off with a good deal.

This happened with my 2000 Honda Odyssey... it was in such demand, I had to pay full MSRP to get it at all! The 2006 Cabriolet 1.8T (with premium option) is as follows:
Invoice: $37,649
MSRP: $40,835
CarsDirect says to pay $38,884
while Edmunds says their "What Others Are Paying" price is $39,626
What's worse, I'm hearing there's an advertising fee to be paid. Damned salesmen!
I have the impression from that Edmunds price, that I'd better be content if I can get it for $39,626 (especially if I can get the advertising fee waived!)
dont ever pay for an advertising fee.. tell them to go shove the car up their ****.. they need to pay for their own damn business expenses.. not you. Seriously dont pay any of those crappy fees that are made up to build the price up its all BS
Also, find all the options that are on the car that your looking to buy and don't pay for any of the ones that you don't actualy want. Its there prob that its alread on the car. Example (sunroof, power windows, I don't know its reigenal.)
The more progressive dealerships have Internet sales departments, which work the same way as "fleet" or "executive" sales. You can access some of these directly through the Internet. For others, you can work through a referral service, such as AutoByTel or your local Costco. AAA has similar programs, but I can generally beat the AAA price by a few hundred dollars.
Once you line up a good deal, don't blow it in the finance guy's office by ordering alot of his extras.

I found this site about buying cars. http://www.carbuyingtips.com/. It seems pretty interesting and worth reading.
