Hey guys I'm new to the world of Audi. Just purchasing first one today and making it a project. I have a 1997 Audi a4 Quattro 1.8t automatic. Purchased it today for 700 bucks. Originally wnted 1259 but told him 700 until he gets the "spare tranny" he promised then I'd pay another 200. Well here's the run down. Me and my friend have torn Into it to replace te sunroof because it was stuck open so were going through to make it a nice black headliner with all black trim inside. I have the b5 platform with Bose surround sound but no head unit. Anyway.... It's a automatic BUT there is no reverse! And in neutral you cannot push it forward or backward even! Guy says its the tranny but it goes in drive just fine and works in all gears minus neutral and reverse as if they don't register. It makes a kind of wirring noise from centre of car when attempting reverse like it won't click it kinda. But on some attempts just silent. And thibking maybe transfer case or transmission safety switch or control module? Any Info that can help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
