New to forum need help with small issues
Hi all,
I am new to this forum, I just purchased a used A4 1996 model 2.8 V6 for a very good price with some minor issues.
Can anyone give me some ideas on the following:
- Power steering works fine however at some points when driving slow and turning it makes a deep whining noise.... Checked the P/S fluid and it seems fine.
- Ignition barrell has spring problem... turn the car on an key does'nt flick back to original position, has to be done manually... any quick fixes? or do i need a whole new barrell?
I would appreciate any help that I can get.

I'm not sure on the power steering but with the ignition switch, check and see if your car has had the recall comleted or not. Audi had to recall the ingnition switch's on the 96's because of a fault and you might get a new one for free. It is like a two hour service job I think.

I just rang Audi... they said it wont be free to fix because the car is a 96 model and it's past the recall stage.
Does anyone know where I can also find on the web "do it yourself servicing e.g. oil changes, radiator flushing etc?"

Call Audi of America 800-822-2834. Ask for a customer advocate. Its called the JS campaign for the ignition switch recall. Have your VIN handy. I had mine replaced free in the beginning of July this year.
