New fun in the sun (& snow!!)
Greetings. The holiday season has been fun here in N.C. Picked up an '05 1.8q MT6 last week. We just got about 2-3" of snow and mostly sleet. Roads are very icy in most areas around here, and I've had a blast seeing what the quattro with and w/o traction control is all about. Way much more fun than a few old Jeeps or classic Broncos that I've had in the past. I can see how ESP can really give you much more confidence as you push this little car along. Great stuff. And that's coming from somebody who likes their cars the more simple the better.
Just came down a winding and shady country road with 4 cars off on the shoulder and ditch. One of which was a State Trooper. He had parked on the uphill icy road to talk to a stranded motorist. As he approached the other car, his Crown Vic slid 40 feet down the hill and ***-end into the ditch bank. Looks like they could use a few Audi's in their fleet. He just watched as I drove down the hill and accelerated (within reason) out of view!
Audi's are pretty cool. Looking forward to making some slight upgrades in the future: 18's, exhaust, springs, shocks.

AMEN!!! I just drove from far eastern NC to far western NC today (was supposed to do it yesterday). I bought a 98 1.8T last Tuesday, so it was awesome to see how it did in the ice. It went really well except for the gound clearance. After all that "snow" froze up at night, I was still driving around and ice was just scraping the bottom so bad. Anyway, good to see you passed the state trooper...funny story...as they say, what goes around comes around.
we got 12" in here in ohio. It wasn't very fun with my summer wheels/tires on. Someone had to jump out of there car on the interstate to push me out of the ditch! I'm now back to my stocker wheels. [:@]
Had one hell of a time Christmas eve, snowed 7", in houston of all places, no salt, no sand, no traction, I almost got my moms lexus rx 330 stuck. man the people in houston cant drive for ****, saw about 40 crashes in two hours.
that pretty bad, but I was one of maybe 3 idiots driving around in the snow down here that was lucky enought to not get in an accedent, and isn't it standard procedure to have a reck on every highway when it rains in a large city, it kinda makes the dayly commute more, shall i say, interesting.
