(new guy) A4 1.8t questions etc
Hi, im new to the forum and am really getting interested in audi's and modding them. Im sure you get these posts alot and of course all your input is highly appreciated. Ive read alot of the posts for the new guys that give alot of great information but i still have a few questions or needed reassurances. Im looking to purchase a 98-99 A4 with the 1.8t 5 speed. Im aware that in 99.5 they did a few improvements such as the things with the timing belt and what not. Im also looking to do some upgrades as soon as i get the car. Ive read up that a k04-15 turbo would be a good upgrade and ive found just the turbo for $900. Of course Ill chip it with maybe a GIAC chip. A Bosch 710N Diverter Valve, exhaust with catbacks and other upgrades such as suspension etc.
My questions are
If I do not get a 99.5 a4 with the new improvements, what do i need to change or make sure has been changed immedialty, is it costly, am i better just hunting for the right 99.5 or just fix the problems in a 99 or 98 ( of course everything being cost effective the 98 or 99 being cheaper or easier to get)
The k04-15 turbo is a direct bolt on replacement? There is nothing else im going to need when upgrading that solely other then just the turbo itself, and the other mods to make it work appropriately.
The stock intake i believe is ok to keep, and if anything something like a carbonio (i no there pricy)
Chip wise thats going have to be a something other then just a stock chip to work properly with the new turbo im presuming.
Exhaust wise do i need to look for a kit with a DownPipe and hi-flo cats anything specific or for example would the APR exhaust kit work just fine.
Anything important I missed or just general reminders or comments are all appreciated

um find a timing belt kit which runs about 300 buck or more thats one. two the KO4 is a good turbo but u will need PC16 Upgrade (Injector set and special GIAC chip) find that at AWE-tuning.com because u cant run a larger turbo without tuning. three carbonio intake is the best intake and the Evo intake also but the are pricey best way people will say custom airbox mod because its alot cheaper. four exhaust wise borla has a good exhaust but autospeedperformance.com make custom exhausts 3" down pipe high flow cat and turbo cat-back ehaust for 900 bucks but that is a special order. APR will work just fine also. five suspension wise go to modacar.com tein baisc coilovers for about 700. and the site to get ur timing belt from is ECStuning.com. best DV for me is forgemotorsport type RS Recirculating found at forgemotorsport.com woks really well thecarbonio intake. other than that welcome and here is a hint use the search button at the bottom of the forms because people will reallt flame u for basic question that can be found at the search engine.

any exhaust will work, cat back axle back custom, for a non bt car 2.5-2.75 is most needed, you can do a highflow cat, and test pipe, although if i remeber right only reason you need a test pipe is bt, or you deff need one with bt i am not 100% sure

there is a basic file for the k04, where you wont need to do anything else to it
