Yes, noobs making dumb responses... I was maching*sp* your post because you got onto him so hard for purchasing those two items. I think those are great first buys and you'll enjoy the product, once everything comes together you'll need those anyway. (Note my first post, i also said it will give him slight throttle response... just in a nice way) kthx.

Great first buys would be something that actually does something, like a chip or DV. He got the DV, but I would bet he would be much happier with the results a chip would give vs the carbino.

Nothing wrong with the carbino, except its $$$$$$$$$ for not much gain. Its good if you have a huge turbo, or lots of money and want some underhood bling.

Even though i have a different generation A4, I've defientely dug the Carbonio, sound good, give a little power, more on the throttle response side though. I have gotten nice compliments from the Audi service people, which I'm sure have seen there fair share of some jerry-rigged apparatus. I had paid about $40 in labor to a local mechanic to swap my diverter, as soon as i realized i couldn't put it on thru the engine bay, i had the shop put it in, the carbonio only took about 1 hour to install myself, if you have a heat sheid foil that comes with it, through some silicone on the sticky side to help it adhere, the stickness wears of rather quickly, but since reapplying it ive had no problems.

With the cost of the carbo. intake and an extra $100, you could have a chip and the gains would be approximately and litteraly 50-80X better. The turbo would be louder too. You just wouldnt have the gowl and DV noise.

I'm sure the kid plans on getting a chip, christmas is near =) He was prolly aware the chip was a better performance upgrade compared to an intake, and if he wasnt he knows now... Get a chip for christmas and have a ball!

Sound + Performance = GREAT SUCESS

I am not knocking the Carbino as far as quality and functionality. I have heard a lot of good things about them.

But to me, Carbino VS other mods , other mods win out until the very end.

Its just the intake that makes things louder... Considerably louder.

I really wanna hear the sound of that intake before I purchase it.
I know I am getting APR flash and DV for sure, but hesitating on intake.
I do have $ for it, just I don't want it to be too loud which is the main reason I am not getting exhaust.
