New tires
I just took some crappy Falken like tires off mine. They were house brand tires made by Falken for the tire store. Loud as crap on the highway and slid like snot on glass on the road. I HATED THEM!
Just put on Yoko Avid V4s's and love them. Granted new control arms, and tie rods helped get my '96 A4 FWD riding like new again. If don't point it out nobody believes me when I tell them I've got 106K on the odometer. I LOVE MY AUDI!
Suspension fixes aside, the tires are a vast improvement over the Falkens that came off. I did do alot of research and it seemed the Yoko's were the best bang for the buck for me. I thought I wanted all season tires, a quiet ride and some longevity. With a 500 AA A rating these come with a 60,000 mile warranty! I think there great tires if your planning on driving your car on the streets and not auto x-ing. Of course they hold pretty good on the road too. In hind site as little as my car sees the snow I could have proably stuck with "summer" tires, however us front track guys don't mind the little extra traction in the snow.
To sum it up, HATE FALKEN, LOVE AUDI.

i bought some cheap a$$ nankangs from ebay, wear has been good so far, hard as rocks though
$370.00 shipped to the door for 4- 235/40/18
next time around i will open the pockets a bit more for a good performance tire

This brings to mind something a coworker of mine was telling me once.
His wife pays about $200 every 12k miles for 4 new ("value") tires
He pays about $500 for a new set of Michelin every 50 - 70k miles.
Which is the better deal?
