Default New Tires

I was told that because my two front tires are worn, that i need to change all four tires. the person said that it has something to do with the quattro and that it says in the manual to change all four tires. is this true or is he just trying to get me to buy two more tires?

No it's true. If you don't have tread that is within a certain range of each other it will cause all your tires to wear fast and it might mess up the quattro since it will be turning at different speeds (the wheels).

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I have heard this many times before.

^ pretty negligible if you ask me, but yes, you should replace all 4.

Why not buy my Wheels and tires??? It will be less than a new set!

the tires in the back are fairly new and have a good amount of tread on them, does this matter?

Its always recommend to replace all four at the same time. But if you just need two put the new ones on the front, for obvious reasons. I work at sears auto, if a car has awd/4wd we can't sell just two tires. So yes he was trying to get you to buy two more tires but its really the right thing to do on these cars.

Oh btw read this https://www.audiforums.com/m_474623/tm.htm

Sounds like you got alignment issues.
