is a custom tune not an option? is there any tuning software that support these cars ( HP tuners, EFI, etc.)?

Also, how much power can the stock clutch hold on the 1.8?

Exclamation Beware of the eBay FMIC...

I purchased a Godspeed FMIC kit with plumbing for my 2001 1.8T, and everything hooked up to the stock rubber hosing, however with the diverter valve where it is, there isn't enough play to move around the IC itself. With that said, it's sitting roughly 1.5" off of the AC condenser and radiator, and i had to stretch the bumper around it to make it fit properly, and overall looks horrible as it sits now. If you purchase one of these kits, be ready to fabricate mounts, replace your DV with a BOV, and possibly modify your plumbing to suit it(and be ready to lose about 2" of ground clearance).

Is there any downfalls to having a chip your car? Some dude was telling me it cuts the life of your engine in half. False?

I have just joined this forum as I am about to buy a 2000 A4 Audi. The price is right, however the original exhaust has a hairline crack in the catalytic converter. Should I be worried as to how this came about or are the 2000 A4's noted for premature exhaust failures? This A4 has about 90,000 km's. I'm hoping that someone on this forum has some past experience that can be shared. Thanks

CDN/AZ C6, I haven't heard of premature exhaust failure being a common problem on the b5 A4. Is emissions testing required in your area? If not, use the damaged catalytic converter as an opportunity to add a test pipe! That is if it's a 1.8t, I'm not sure if that kind of mod would be beneficial for a 2.8. Be sure to check the car for all of the common problems listed on the first page of this thread, as I'm sure you did, and most of all welcome to the forums!

Does anyone have the hp (150) and torque together with RPM for the 1998 a4 1.8t (AEB, right?)?

Crank and wheel (quattro, manual trans)?

Stock dyno chart maybe?
