Newbie help needed: ECM Questions
Hi, I am trying to save some$ and try to fix my 2000 Audi A4 1.8T FWD myself.
Symptom: AFTER engine is shut off, the secondary air pump continues to run (sounds like a vacuum cleaner), this drains my battery dead by the next day.
Diagnosis: The secondary air pump relay in the ECM is stuck On. Need to replace relay.
Questions:
1) Is this the right relay?

2) If I remove the electrical harness connected to the ECM. Will I screw something up and need a re-flash?
3) Anyone has a step-by-step instructions (best with pictures) on how to open up the ECM?
Thanks.

RE: Newbie help needed: ECM Questions
Looks like the correct relay.
No on a reflash providing you disconnect your battery (neg and pos) terminals. Have your stereo code handy and be prepared to do a TBA when you're done.
You are not going INTO the ECM to replace the relay. It's under the ECM cover, and not in the brain box itself.
No pictures here, sorry.
