Default newbie help needed

I just purchased a lovely TT 3.2 S-Tronic convertible in the UK. The fans are constantly on which i was aware when i bought the car. Someone told me that there is a sensor that sends signal to turn the fans on? does anybody know what is the name of that sensor/switch? or any ideas what the problem could be? they have obviously bypassed because the fans werent turning on so that the car doesnt overheat. So fans are constantly on..

Just to give a bit more info, the car had a minor accident, so the bumper, rad and fans have been replaced but these idiots who repaired it obviously couldn't be bothered fixing the problem so they just wired fans to always be on. Perhaps something else broke from the accident? Is there any sensor or any part that kick fans in near by the rad or somewhere there? also where can i look any advice pls?or photos??PLEASE im so desperate to get it fixed asap
