Great stuff man, definitely should be stickied!

Regarding the 2.8 exhaust...it is my understanding that nobody (or not many companies) sells a full cat-back for the 2.8. Is that wrong? Do the vendors you list offer full catback? If not, could you add in that most 2.8 people go with a custom straight pipe and tack on the muffler of their choice? Tell me if I’m full of crap on that…

Regarding auto vs. manual…the manual can definitely hold more power and doesn’t loose power via the torque converter. But vaguely remember someone (could’ve been David999) making the point that an automatic will give you consistently perfect shifts when racing a quarter-mile…no human-error factor. Again, I could be full of crap, just throwing that out for debate…and by no means am I suggesting an automatic is the better choice. (Even though I’ll snarl at anyone who makes fun of my Tip )

And regarding the whole "noobs not searching" debate....I've always thought the Search function should be highlighted much more prominantly on this (and every other) site. Instead of putting it up top with 10 other menu options in small font, put it front-and-center on the page, in big-*** letters, with a box open for you to insert text and push the button. That doesn't related to this post, just the overall structure of forum. Just a thought....

Great post!

if you take a look at this link https://www.audiforums.com/m_177186/tm.htm it lists all the catback exhausts that you can find for the 2.8

ya i believe your spot on with that. if humans were perfect and could shift perfectly then manual would always be better than automatic, but since were not automatic can shift better than most humans can. especially when you add a tip chip. it shifts fast as hell

ya i agree but our search tool is defintely one of the easiest to find. i've been on other forums where it was in some obscure pulldown menu. and the members still flamed all the newbies.

Great post!
Thanx

on a side note. my english professor is GHEY! cancels class the day a paper is due without telling us so i spent all night working on the paper for nothing[:'(]

Pretty sure most of those cat-backs are for the 3.0 B6...I should've clarified i was only talking about the B5 2.8. I'm at work right now, so i can't double check them all, but maybe some of them do have catbacks for my car. I'll take a closer look tonight, but I remember there not being many options.

And you're right about the search function if you compare it to AudiWorld...theirs is tough to find. But of all the Audi ethusiast forums, i'd consider AF to be the most noob-friendly. And as such, I think more could be done to highlight the search function. Just my opinion.
