Default No More Sound Guard After Today

So on the way home today, I hit something. It was dark, rainy and the glare on the road was pretty bad. I was going the speed limit in light traffic almost home and all of the sudden I see a BUCKET... yes, a BUCKET in the middle of the road. Not only did I not have enough time to react, but if I did try to do anything I would have probably slid all over the road.

It was a pretty hard hit underneath, but I did see it behind me in pieces after impact. Anyway, I was about 30 seconds from home so I just kept going. When I got in, I rolled the front end up on my ramps. The sound barrier was dragging the ground and was shredded to heck. Both the front and rear sound barrier were cracked and dragging the ground.

Anyway, I CAREFULLY inspected the under side of the car and the only thing I could find was a scratch on the frame directly where the biggest hole was made in the sound barrier.

Now, my question is -- how can I go about getting a new sound barrier and does it hurt to drive without it? It seems pretty exposed underneath and the road noise is quite a bit more.

You dont really need that thing. A piece of plastic isnt going to stop something from piercing a hole in a metal pan, as you saw first hand with the pan being destroyed and the metal almost untouched. Personally id look for one in a junkyard. At a dealer itd probably be like 400 bucks in parts for both.

I just took mine off recently too...it was dragging on the ground. You should be fine without it.

I'll try to track one down. Thanks!

hiwords: what is the front lip? You mean the very bottom of the bumper? If so, that's fine -- it actually hit near the back where the two sound barriers meet
