Default Noise after oil change...

Every time I change my oil/filter my engine makes noise and shakes a bit for the first couple of seconds after the initial startup. I am using MANN filters and Mobil 1 oil.
I have experienced this with Valvoline 5w40 and Mobil1 0w40

Any ideas what might be causing it? Possible bad drainback on the oil filter?

Yep only once the oil has been drained and re-filled and filter replaced... It is not weather related since I have cold started my engine in hot and cold weather and never had this happen.

I dont know what to tell you man. It doesnt make sense that it wouldnt do it on a cold start when the oil has drained from the engine into the oil pan which is basicaly the same thing as performing an oil change if you know what i mean. Try filling up the filter with fresh oil before you install it on the next oil change and see what happens. I dont know why that would help, but its the only suggestion i can think of.

I was thinkin' about charging the filter first, but the damn thing sits sideways! Never had this problem on my other car where the filter sat vertcal... I will try and put as much into it as possible to see what happens. I would hate to be doing damage to the engine every time I change the oil.

sideways=horizontal
upright=vertical

On the 1.8t it goes in more vertical than horizontal.. You could probably fill it half way up if before you install. I guess it goes in more at a 60 degree angle, but what engine do you have anyway?

Hmmm...thats odd. Can't think of any reasonable explanation. Next time charge the filter and see what happens. It doesn't matter if it sits horizontally charge it and screw it on quickly. You'll only lose a little oil.

this may be a stupid question, but are you cranking the engine over, with the coilpacks disconnected, to build oil pressure before you start the car? if you don't, the first few seconds after you start it up for the first time after an oil change are pretty un-lubricated, as all the oil has drained down out of the heads.
