Default Noise coming from rear wheels

I recently purchased aAudi A4 2ltr Tdi S-Line, i noticed a whirring noise and a bit of vibration coming from the rear wheels and prosumed it was the bearings and balancing, so i took it to the company i bought it from (Evan Halshaw) who told me theres nothing wrong with the bearings and that it is a common issue caused by uneven tyre wear on the inside of the rear tyres caused by the camber set up, in which Audi are willing to comprimise in order to increase handling and stability! is this true or are they just trying to pull the wool over my eyes? can anybody shed some light on this??

Is the suspension lowered? If it is it could be wearing the inside edge of the tires from negative camber. Look under & see if the tires are worn. Also run your hand across the tires & see if they feel choppy?
Does the noise get louder & quieter when turning the wheel from side to side at highway speeds?
If the noise changes it is probably a bad rear wheel bearing. I would also ask them to

Thanks for your reply. The cars suspension is standard for the A4 s-line, they did say that the inside edge was slightly bumpy compared to a smooth outside edge and that it is cause by the camber set up on the A4 S-line, i just find it hard to believe that Audi would allow this, because ive only had the car 4 weeks and although the whirring noise is only minimal and the is only a little vibration above 60/65 mph i can see it driving me scatty over a period of time!

The factory alignment set up should not wear tires! They are handing you a line of BS.

Appologies for taking a while to get back to you, i took my car to audi to take a look, and they told me that there was nothing wrong with the bearings and it was actually due to the tyres that are fitted which are a budget to mid range tyre fitted by the garage i bought the car from. they said the problem would be solved by fitting a decent mid to high end tyre, i hope that helps, i havent fitted new tyres as of yet because although they are slighty uneven which is what is causing the noise, there is still plenty of life left in them.
