Default Noise as I shift from high rpm

I just took an 8 hour trip in my 2002 A4 (1.8L manual) and at the end of it I pulled off to a motel. As I shifted in any gear from around 4000 rpm to any higher gear there was a somewhat loud clicking noise coming from what sounded like the glove box. Does anyone know what this could be and should I not drive it anymore? Also to note, the sound didn't seem to occur if I downshifted. Any suggestions?

bad CV joint? Bad suspension component? Could just be a loose glove box. Test it out.
