If they are covering your expenses why not educate yourself? It'll pay off in the long run for you.

What do you mean, like study European History or neurology or learn to weld at community college? ^^ Did you do that? How has it paid off for you?
Making money in the real world and investing it wisely will also "pay off in the long run."
From the limited perspective I have, it doesn't sound like his parents just write him a big check every two weeks and let him spend it however he wants. It's nice to have disposable income in the summertime.

Education is what you make of it. Personally I worked in a shop and learned fabrication and automation. I was 18 at the time but I'm sure theres plenty of places that will let a 16 year old sweep the floors for some cash. If you show intrest in learning normally they will let you learn.

Making money in the real world is pretty much keyed into your education. The more you have the better. At 16 I wouldnt expect him to start investing into a 401K. If I was his parents I'd rather him get educated as much as possible thus letting him be able to have a future

Great so you're a rich *** snob who goes to school with even richer snobs. Doesn't mean ****. What are you gonna do now, take out the garbage once every 5 weeks to make it up? You fucked up and you should pay the price, end of story.

I'm not doing this so much for my own pleasure rather then to prove to you that not everyone is going to get all sorry over your dumb mistakes especially if you drink to "get these problems off your mind." Grow up already.
