O2 Sensor Problems : Need advice

O2 Sensor Problems : Need advice
Hi guys,
I've a '99 Audi 1.8T Quattro that I got a few years back. Lately, the car has been experiencing a number of problems. The check system light on the car had been on for a while, but since I drive the car quite infrequently, it didn't matter much. My mechanic has told me that the engine requires a new O2 meter, and once that is in place, the issues I have been having will be fixed. The main problem is that when I am driving, the car seems to splutter, sometimes while taking a turn the engine has also gone cold dead - the issue seems to be with the fuel injection which is unstable and sometimes that causes problems.
Do you guys have any inputs based on the following information (error codes from the central computer) -->
P1425 Tank Ventilation Valve - Short to Ground A
P1472 Emission control circuit short
P0102 Airflow voltage signla too low
P1196 O2 sensor heater circuit
B1S1.P0134 No O2 sensor activity
B1S1.P1198 O2 heater circuit B1S2
---
Thanks a lot in advance,
Regards -
Raj.

Sounds like 2 problems to me. 02 sensor and a short to ground A for the gas tank venilation, whatever that means???? A bad 02 sensor shouldnt cause your engine to cut out. Sounds like a fuel pressure/pump/injector problem. But the 02 sensor is probably bad and is causing the last 3 codes.

its def one of the sensors...i you have a bad mass air flow sensor, the car acts the same way only difference is that when the 02 sensors are bad you'll smell rotten eggs from the exhausts... thats def. 02 sensor...my advice is just take it to the audi dealer find out what the problem is then...get someone to fix it for you...and its normal for 02 sensors to go bad...

Since they are dealer maybe they have better idea than most of us...once they tell you the problem... fix it your self.... its better than trying to fix everything your self...

Take it to the DEALER?!!?! Audi's aren't mythical cars only the dealer can service...
Try this first: Clean your MAF and change the 02 sensor (pre-cat)...

Whats the point in paying the dealer $95+ just to find out the problem when you can pin point it yourself with the help of all your audi forum buddies???? There is no excuse to pay dealer labor rates unless there is no other person or place that can help you for less... or if money is no object to you, i suppose...
Id start with the 02 sensor and go from there. Deffinately sounds like an 02 sensor gone bad, at least. Check out ECS tuning for good prices on the sensor. oxygensensors.com typicaly has the best prices, but i found out for the audi thats not the case.
