Default '02 1.8 A4; oil sensor light - need advice

oil level is OK. What is causing the sensor light message? Could not find any info searching the forum...also, check engine light is on...code says cooling system. I am going to replace the thermostate as I have already replaced the temp sensor located at the firewall top of engine...

Thanks

What color is the oil light?
Yellow: means the level and its probably a bad sensor, its the one bolted to the bottom of the oil pan.

Red: Stop driving the car right NOW! Thats an oil pressure light and you probably have sludge. The red light usually beeps at you as well. There is a TSB at audi that will repair this issue free of charge as long as you can show proof of oil change reciepts since you have owned the car. They will even cover engine replacement if the damage to the engine is too severe. There is no mileage restriction to this TSB either.

my oil sensor light was on as well...turned out to be the wires going to the sensor on the bottom of the oil pan were badly corroded and broken check that first. if not try spraying your connector wires with deoxit or someother kind of contact cleaner
