Default Oh, BLEEP! I *BLEEPED* up my turbo!

My attempts to track down a possible lean-causing leak ultimately led to this:

No, it's not causing my lean code... it is the result of me losing a socket while reinstalling the TIP. You get one guess where the socket ended up... [:@]

So, anyone want to sell me a K03 or K04 cheap?

I'm debating whether to go K04... I have APR Stage 1+ now.

Is it safe to drive, as long as I stay out of boost? It still boosts but I get a dentist drill sound...

daaaaaaaaaaaang, that sucks... DUDE, you should have gone to your local auto store and picked up one of those wand magnet things. I dropped a bolt into the housing of my talon's turbo and thought i was screwed... i went and picked one of those things up and it got it out easily, i never started my car of course...

was the car on when you dropped it down there?

No, the car wasn't on. I was reinstalling the TIP and tightening down the hose clamps on something (N75 hoses perhaps) when the socket fell off. I heard it fall but I didn't see where it went. I looked all over for it but couldn't find it. I thought it had fallen into the engine compartment somewhere and it would fall out when I started the car. I finished installing the TIP, fired her up, and went for a test drive, and got the dreaded dentist drill sound. I found the socket when I removed the TIP again. It must have been rattling around inside the TIP and chewing up the turbo blades.

Believe me, if I'd seen the socket fall into the TIP I would have gotten it out before starting it up...

get it rebuilt by g-popshop.com for $425+$25 s/h (<that the price to get your k03 rebuilt into a k04 spec) and then pic up the software from AWE for $600 or APR(don't know cost) and you'll be very happy

I've been thinking that I'll keep this little trick under my hat for when I want to upgrade my turbo.

"Woops honey I "accidentally" screwed up my turbo, this is the cheapest thing that I can do"
