oil "dummy" light
well, i had an oil light come on, and when i went to check it, the rubber part was brittle and broke, the oil level and consistency was fine. should i assume that the rubber seal for the dipstick was allready cracked, causing low oil pressure, in turn causing the dummy light?
where would be the best place to get a new dipstick?

The dipstick seal would not cause pressure to drop. A bad ground could cause the light to come on. A weak relief spring could cause lower pressure. A worn oil pump could also cause pressure to drop.
which oil light are you talking about? The one that flashes OIL on startup in the trip odometer? Just go to an audi or VW dealer and pick a new one up, it can't be that expensive.
I'd get it VAGed if I were you. If it's the blinking red oil pressure light in the center display, it could be a bigger problem. When mine came on it was a clogged sump screen. I had to have the oil pump assembly replaced. That post is somewhere back in the archives here, I just can't find it.
it is the blinking red light
the oil temp is around 200.... according to that guage
i guess ill take it to the dealer when i go to get my extra keys... maybe they will work with me since i just bought the car from them...

If it's the blinking red light in the information screen in the center of the guage cluster, don't drive the car. That means somehow there is not sufficient oil getting to the engine. That's what happened to mine when the sump screen was clogged. Anything blinking red on that display is bad news. Usually a good idea to shut it down as soon as you get one of them. HTH
