Default Dummy button switch mod!

So this is pretty simple, but I was wondering what I could do with the dummy switches next to the passenger heated seats switch. So, I put flip switches in them! One for interior led strip lights and one for my amp turn off switch. Here's a small tutorial:

Before sweet mod:

So, take out the dummy button by using a flat head screw driver and lightly pulling it out. Once you get it out its like this:

I forgot to take a picture of the backside before I cut but its got a bunch of dummy plastic there. I took a dremmel and sawed away all of the dummy plastic. All you need to keep is the top and bottom clips. Here is what it looks like after sawing (Sorry for crappy pic, I took with my phone, and yes it doesn't look perfect because I didn't take a lot of time to do it ):

Now that that is done you take a drill bit about the same size as your switch and drill through the front. Then take your switch (I got mine at Autozone, you can pick whichever one you want. I got basic chrome ones for $2 a peice!!) and unscrew the thing underneath the switch. Once that is done just fit the switch through the hole. The back should stop it from going though. Then screw back on the thing that secures the switch. That will hold it in the dummy switch. Here's after drilling and fitting it through:

Another:

Once it is in and secured. Wire it up to whatever you want it to control and put it in where your old switch was.

After!!!!!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place in the forum but I had to share. Also sorry if my tutorial skills aren't the greatest.

Enjoy!

sweet mod. thanks for sharing. I've seen a few of these done before. Now you need to mod some labels onto the switches. IIRC there is a guy around here that has a Transformers logo switch that replaces one of his dummy buttons.

CCA4 That is awesome! lol. made me laugh. Yea Conklin, I posted on here as well :P. I am gonna label them with the small amount of room I have on the top part of the button, not sure the best way. Be careful what surface you rest the button on while you are dremmeling. As you notice in my second pic (of the front of the button), it has some rubbing. That is because I didnt have my vice grips, so I had to hold it against my concrete floor while dremmeling. Not so cosmetically pretty if you ask me!

Use vice grips to hold while using the dremmel saw and the drill. It will save you some hassle.

Luckily, you cant see where it rubbed when in the car!
