i work at a valvoline store and was wondering what you guys would recomend in my car...i run mobil 1 in it right now but was thinking of switching to maxlife. my car has 86000 on it and its a 99.5 1.8t quattro. Much appreciated.

Mobil 1 is fine.. lots of people run it..

I believe the recommended oil is 5W-40 synthetic and it must say VW 502 on it.

thanks guys ill stick with the mobil 1.....might try some amsoil...iv heard good things about it.

you guys do know that some of us have cars that recomnd thicker oil right. not 0W 30 unless it was freezin out.

Amsoil 5w30 works very well for me. I went to a g2g yesterday (hopefully I'll have pics soon)...but I was the only A car (bunches of S6's and a few S4's) so needless to say on the 100 miles or so that we drove I was absolutely pushed to the limit but my oil temp stayed perfect. I was impressed considering how hard I pushed the car.

to tell you the truth you should look in the owners manual and find the temp range that matches the conditions that you will be driving in, I don't know it there was something changed cus of the sluge issue. But I would still use Mobil 1.
