oil change 10k???
So for an 2001 B5 the oil changes are at 10k miles the dealer tells me. I'm used to every 3k so this is weird for me.
Does everyone really wait until 10k to change the oil?
Is a regular oil change shop ok to take the car to?
How many quarts do they use?

6k would be the norm for the turbo engine, 10k is the long life stuff and the computer is set for it ( you need to know what yours is set up for ) but regardless of that I would say 5/6k with filter, only problem with the long life setting is you need VAG to reset it
Always use synthetic stuff like mobil one... or amosil if you dont mind dropping a nickel.. It depends on how hard you drive your car. If you drive it then you will have to change the oil more frequently... I change mine around every 3-4k if that helps
You can run synthetic oil for much longer than 10k miles. It is designed to be used for roughly 25k(or atleast the stuff I use its from Valvoline) all you really need to do its check it make sure you dont have sludge and change your oil filter every 3k miles
