Old trans fluid could have a brown tint too it, but not black-ish like oil.

Alright I'm coming up on my first oil change and I'm wondering if the Audi's are pretty easy to DIY or if I should have it Done buy someone else... And also, I am missing the rubber stop on my dipstick, could this be causing my high idle speed since the dipstick is not sealed?

YOU JUST SAID THE BOLT WAS AN ALLEN BOLT?!?! DUDE YOU JUST DRAIED YOUR TRANNY FLUID!!!! You are putting out white smoke because now, you have about 8 quarts of oil in your crankcase and it is burning up. STOP driving!!! Looks like you better learn how to fill your tranny to the correct level now!!!!

first off if i drained the transmission fluid it would be red right not a dirty brownish color? second if i put 4 quarts of oil is that too much?
Thats true if you have lower mileage. If you have over 50k miles, chanced are your tranny fluid is pretty burned up and is in fact brown.
You are also using the wrong kind of oil. Use 5W40 or 5w30 fully synthetic. I use Amsoil, but Mobil1 would be my next choice (not to turn this into a what oil is best thread) but at least start with the right viscosity=5w40 for your car.

YES MY STUPID friend realized he drained his tranny lol. I told him to make sure that was the oil drain hes like everyone told him it was but on a manual car so he drianed the tranny, and had 8 quarts of oil in the engine lol. but good thing he did it his tranny oil was BLACK not good we drained it and filled it and got the oil drained to. Thanks for ALLL your help. ANd his car has 106k on it so they recomend 10w40 for the car so he used mobile one gold cap fully syntehic.
